Four Lingua Franca World Community CIC Performers are participating in a Manchester Libraries event as part of the city’s International Mother Language Day celebrations.
The day-long event, which has been developed in partnership with Manchester City of Literature, will take place online on Saturday, 20 February 2021 and will include workshops and performances from Lingua Franca artists, George Linton aka Mento-B, Sarah the Sufi and Kathak dancer, Kanchan Maradan, accompanied by Tabla player, Hamit Walia.
There are approximately 200 languages spoken in Manchester at any one time and our artists are raising awareness of Jamaican patois, Urdu, Punjabi, English and the language of Indian rhythms.
The day-long event is part of a two-week celebration of commemorating International Mother Day, throughout the city, which started on Monday, 16 February.
